Biography
Dr. Crawford is a licensed clinical psychologist (CA Lic. PSY27378). She has extensive experience working wtih couples, individuals, and adult families. She is also a parenting coach.
Dr. Crawford helps clients resolve anxiety, depression, trauma, and unresolved issues from family of origin. She supports couples and individuals in building strong, healthy relationships. She works with clients navigating life transitions and fosters personal growth and emotional development.
Dr. Crawford is certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Individuals, and Families, as a therapist and supervisor. EFT is an approach that engages couples in an experiential process that has been scientifically demonstrated effective in reducing conflict, improving relationship quality, and strengthening bonds. She is a lifetime member of the International Center of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and a former board president of the Northern California Community for EFT.
Dr. Crawford is a certified EMDR practitioner and experienced with using EMDR to treat shock trauma, interpersonal and relational trauma, and to strengthen and improve resilience, performance, and presence.
Dr. Crawford holds a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Psychology from Clark University in Massachusetts and a B.A. in Communication from University of California, San Diego.
She uses a variety of evidence-based approaches, depending on clients’ needs. Dr. Crawford collaborates with clients in therapy that is effective, active, experiential, practical, and results-oriented. Valerie is described by clients as supportive, warm, interactive, compassionate, and intuitive.
